· Roof leaks / Moisture · Missing shingles · Water ponding · Blistering / Splitting Look, your roof is a complicated structure. There is a time to do it yourself and there is a time to get a professional roofing contractor to do it for you. Whether you have a flat roof leak or a pitched roof, don't just go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a few roof shingles... and a bucket. Why? Because you don't know what the underlying problem is and you can make it worse.
The most common roof repairs involve a home owner having a leak around their chimney. With that type of repair basically what we will do is remove all of the shingles from around the chimney penetration as well as the metal and the counter flashing. We are then going to incorporate the ice and water shield that's going to turn up off the plywood when we wrap the chimney penetration. We will then install new stab flashing and a new counter flashing system. Finally, we will install new shingles that match as closely as possible to the existing shingles. Another common repair are valley repairs. In a lot of cases, people’s valleys are leaking, so we have to tear out all the shingles in the valley, we put the mortar in then we install shingles that match as closely in the type and color to the existing one.
Of course, one of the most common repairs is replacing missing shingles and will will do everything possible to best match the new shingles to your existing shingles.
So, we make our assessment of the necessary repairs, but typically we will also meet with the homeowner because if it's a specific area of the roof is leaking we want to be able to identify that the first time around and make sure that we are addressing the problem with the roof repair.
If necessary, to accurately detect the leak, we will do water testing, starting at the bottom with one person inside and one out and work our way up the roof until we find exactly where the roof leak is.
